With the recent modifications to the latest version of Subsonic, video
streaming has become an additional realistic component to the functionality
of Subsonic. So we ask, should Subsonic have a version geared towards WHS
for users who want their music and video on demand?
Using ffmpeg to stream movies in almost any
format, videos can be streamed in any bitrate directly in the browser as if
it were being watched as a youtube video. With the constant struggle to find
the ultimate remote streaming library software for WHS users, many people
believe that Susbsonic could be the new answer for out of the box movies and music
at home, work, in the car on your cell phone, with no delay
in audio playback and high quality sound and video. You can select multiple
players, have simultaneous users logged in, and watch videos and recorded TV
in full screen.
We have already started to find out if this is a
possibility for WHS and the upcoming Windows Vail. While video streaming has
already been made possible, WHS could use an automated version that does the
job right the first time. If you want to weigh in, please visit the debate
